The Mercedes GLC duo adds an AMG version


GLC 43 and GLC 63 AMG versions bring pure sportiness, using 2-liter 4-cylinder engine with turbocharger, replacing V8 engine.

After more than a year of the launch of the new generation GLC, the AMG version appeared with the GLC 43 and GLC 63 SE Performance. The GLC 43 has a capacity of 416 hp and 500 Nm of torque, while the GLC 63 SE Performance adds an electric transmission unit (EDU) on the rear axle, producing 671 hp and 1,019 Nm of torque. . With a 2-liter engine, this is a big step for Mercedes because the turbocharged V8 on the previous generation GLC only 503 horsepower.

Both models use a 9-speed MCT automatic transmission with a wet clutch. The AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive GLC 43 is rear axle, while the GLC 63 is equipped with a fully variable 4MATIC+ system with rear wheel steering. GLC 63 integrates an additional 6.1 kWh, 400 V battery for a capacity of 201 hp. Mercedes says the battery block is designed to increase performance, not increase travel. The vehicle can be charged at home with 3.7 kW AC charging or through regenerative braking.

The German automaker says that the GLC 43 can accelerate from 0-100 km / h in 4.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 250 km / h which is electronically limited. The GLC 63 takes 3.4 seconds to accelerate and has a top speed of 284 km/h. There is no information on acceleration time in electric mode, but the electric motor with second gear operates at 140 km/h.

Both models are equipped with AMG Ride Control adaptive dampers with Comfort, Sport and Sport+ modes. The GLC 63 adds active body stabilization.

The brake system on the GLC 43 is a high-performance form with 4-piston calipers at the front. GLC 63 has larger brake shackles with 6 pistons and ventilated brake discs.

The versions of the AMG have a more aggressive design than the standard GLC. AMG Panamericana grille. The GLC 43 has a diffuser with a round exhaust, while the GLC 63 has a diffuser with a trapezoidal exhaust. For customers who want the GLC 43 to be as aggressive as the GLC 63, the AMG Performance Studio package will include a front splitter and side skirts and a rear diffuser.

In addition, Mercedes allows the option of the AMG Night Package, which adds black accents such as mirrors, rear bumper, door trim, and exhaust. The AMG Night Plus package brings dark chrome details on the grille and car logos. Highlights can be finished in carbon with the AMG Exterior Carbon Fiber Package.

The interior of both models is equipped with AMG seats wrapped in MB-Tex microfiber material, optional normal leather and high-class Nappa. For a sportier feel, the seat frame can be optionally AMG Performance. The GLC 43 has a Nappa leather-wrapped steering wheel, while the GLC 63 is a combination of Nappa and MB-Tex.

Like the standard GLC, the two AMG models feature an 11.9-inch central screen and a 12.3-inch multi-information display behind the steering wheel. Since this is an AMG variant, the instrument cluster adds Supersport mode and the AMG Track Pace data logger is optional.

The GLC 43 is expected to arrive at US dealers in 2024, while the GLC 63 SE Performance will go on sale in 2025. The price of the two models has not been disclosed by Mercedes.
