Songsan SS Dolphin - Chinese car with American vintage style


Classic style Songsang SS Dolphin convertible model inspired by the 1958 Chevrolet Corvette, with a rechargeable hybid engine, priced at nearly $ 100,000.

Songsan started out in the mid-1990s as an auto club in Beijing, then moved into selling homes, selling vintage cars and custom motorcycles. However, Songsan does not have a license to manufacture cars. Therefore, SS Dolphin is a product of Songsan's design but manufactured by BYD and bearing the BYD logo.

Before that, Songsan had participated in many custom shows around China, showing Harley-Davidson models as well as many classic American-inspired designs, from costumes, jukeboxes, and bread stands. sausage clamp.

For those who like American classic cars, Songsan has the SS Solphin launched in 2020 at the Beijing auto show. The car has an initial suggested price of 83,000 USD, but currently the listed selling price on the company's website is 97,000 USD.

Under the agreement, BYD is responsible for production. The platform, powertrain, software, and infotainment system are all from BYD, while Songsan designed the bodywork.

The SS Dolphin uses BYD's plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) platform, with a 1.5-liter, 158-horsepower engine paired with a 147-horsepower electric motor, with a single charge-only lane travel of 100 km. . Combined power is 315 hp and 535 Nm of torque. The car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds.

The two-seater convertible has dimensions of length x width x height of 4,855 x 1,900 x 1,431 mm, respectively. Wheelbase 2,700 mm.

The SS Dolphin isn't Songsan's only vehicle. In 2021, the second model launches: SS Summer - a minibus in the style of Volkswagen Type 1 and also using a rechargeable hybrid powertrain. In addition, Songsan is also developing a sedan based on the SS Dolphin.
