Ford Mustang - the best-selling sports car in the world

The muscular vehicle model sold more than 100,000 units in 2019, and has accumulated sales of more than 633,000 sixth-generation units since 2015.

Data from IHS Markit (London-based market research firm) shows that Ford sold 102,090 units globally in 2019, with sales in Germany up 33%, in Poland up nearly 50%. In the European market, the US company sold 9,900 Mustangs, up 3% over the same period in 2018, of which 1,300 cars were sold in the UK.

Sports car models include two-door coupe and convertible. The Mustang has also been the best-selling sports car in the US for the past 50 years, and is currently available in 146 countries and territories.

Mustang has just celebrated its 56th birthday on April 17. The advantages listed include a comfortable rear seat, a wide boot, and easy handling. In addition, the proposed price of $ 26,700 for the 2020 model car is another plus point of the Mustang. Price can be up to 80,000 USD as with the Mustang Shelby GT500 version.

The current generation includes three engine options: 2.3-liter EcoBoost, four-cylinder, capacity of 310 horsepower; 3.7-liter V6 300 horsepower capacity; 5 liter V8 435 horsepower capacity. Six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission, with paddle shifters on the steering wheel.

However, 2020 sales are not expected as expected for Ford as well as many other car companies due to the impact of Covid-19. The production process of American firms in Europe must be halted until at least 4/5.

The Mustang is currently assembled at a factory in Flat Rock, Michigan, USA, and there has been no announcement of the reopening time.
