Bentley redesigned the digital dashboard

Changing the design of the central dashboard but keeping the tradition is a big challenge for the British car company.

Graeme Smith and the design team HMI (Human-Machine-Interface, devices that communicate between people and machines) have put a lot of effort to find a way to build the central screen and dashboard to match the models. Modern vehicles must also match the overall design of the interior.

The important decision was made when Bentley had to design a flat digital screen or a screen with a diverse design (graphic display of 3D objects).

New Bentley dashboard.

Smith said: "A Bentley is not a smartphone, it will be used and cherished for many generations. So, we have chosen a diverse approach to help the screen change with the car. Looking at the digital dashboard ten years ago, it caught up with the times faster than the car, even if it was part of the car. "

"In general, the graphics are clearer and more modern, not as complex as they used to be. We are not following today's modern digital graphics, because it will distort the inherent brand of Bentley. We still use dials and hands, to describe the long tradition of the brand, "said Keith Sielaff, design director.

Continental GT and Flying Spur share the driver's dashboard, but there are some differences in design. For example, Flying Spur has a ring around the speedometer and the rev counter, in addition to the machined dials. Meanwhile, Continental GT watches have 3D effects for the background display.

Night vision mode.

The British brand says it will add a night mode, which is the system's dimmer display function, which displays only a little information to help the driver limit their sight. Drivers can only see basic information such as fuel, engine temperature, time, speed and outdoor temperature. Even the dial of the speedometer and rev counter turn dark, except that the middle clock hand will glow.

In addition, Bentley also added more languages for each region to help owners easily control. For the central screen in Flying Spur, there will be about 600 different icons and more than 1,500 menu screens.
